The Ultimate Survival Guide to Summer in Riyadh with Small Kids

School’s a distant memory and this year we decided not to put the kids in Summer camp for the rest of July. The weather hit the mid 40’s in Riyadh which also means we’re stuck indoors for most of the day. We’re planning to spend most of the Summer in Riyadh once again, and I have received a lot of questions on my instagram about ideas to escape the heat, I decided to make a comprehensive list of activities that we can fall back on when it gets too hot for the early morning swims and we need to leave the house.

There are plenty more to do I'm sure, and if you have any suggestions, feel free to reach out!

Soft Plays and Play Areas for Kids under 5

Disclaimer: we haven't personally tried all of these, I plan on taking the kids to all of them eventually. Additionally, new places are opening across the city all the time so this is by no means an exhaustive and comprehensive list but these are the most popular spots that I know of.

I put the ones we have already visited first and if you go on my Instagram you will find posts and reels and recommendations on the ones we have already been to. As we tick them off one by one, expect more reviews on socials.

The places market with * are the ones we have not yet been to.

Something for the older kids and kids at heart

Some of the below are amusement parks that are, more geared towards arcade games and more action packed entertainment that, in my opinion, are better suited for older kids. We tried a few and found them too overstimulating for our young children as they tend to lack natural light, play loud music, have lots of blinking lights and rides.
