What to do in Riyadh in February

The weather is absolutely perfect for some outdoor fun and hikes, but while we're waiting for our car deal to be finalised and finally have a 4x4 that can take us on exciting desert adventures, we're confined to the city. It's not bad though, Riyadh Season is still going on and there is an abundance of events to pick from this month!

This fantastic show is part of Noor Riyadh's citywide celebration of contemporary art and light festival. We are in luck, because it was extended until 10th March 2023 and it's free to visit. It's a great showcase of works by Saudi and international artists focusing on light as a medium. The venue is in JAX District, which promises to be a very exciting hub for contemporary art. The gallery assistants are eager to share information on the works for those of us who aren't keen on scanning QR codes to learn more about them. The whole family enjoyed it, although Toddler, who isn't used to dimly lit galleries and strange, sometimes even ominous sounds emitted by conceptual art installations was on occasion taken aback. The website has a handy, printable pack for self-guided tour aimed specifically at families, which is a fantastic touch as it really helps explain the works to little ones in an age-appropriate manner.

I have my free tickets booked for later today. I have never been to the National Museum before, so this is a great opportunity to visit. I'm really excited about this one, it promises to be a beautiful showcase of some of the maison's most exquisite creations. I have also recently discovered the magical world of jewellery, so I hope I will be able to learn more about the history of the maison and admire the craftsmanship it takes to create these objects.

The exhibition displays the universe of the High Jewelry Maison at the National Museum of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, from January 19 to April 15, 2023. Around 280 jewellery creations, watches, precious objects produc

ed since the Maison was founded in 1906, and more than 90 original archives, are gathered for the occasion.

We dined out at Bujairi terrace on a few occasions and have wondered around At-Turaif, but we have yet to experience Diriyah Nights. It promises to be a great experience with live art performances, concerts, bringing together fantastic restaurants and shops. I'm curious to see if it lives up to the hype!

Nearly half of the people I asked for brunch recommendations mentioned Chapter Riyadh as their number one spot. I am really curious to see if it lives up to the hype! It promises to put a twist on traditional Saudi dishes in a modern, relaxing environment. The place also featured on Time Out Riyadh's Top Brekkie Spots to try.
